A 2 Week Doctor Visit on a Pretty Spring Day!

On Monday, Brett & I took Jackson to his 2 week doctor appointment. He's doing great.
Here are his stats:
Weight: 8 pounds 5 ounces (birth weight 7 lbs. 13 oz.)
Height: 20 1/4 inches (at birth 19 1/4 inches)
Sleeping in 2-3 hour spans at night (we're hoping that will start increasing here soon)
Eating like a champ! 3 to 4 ounces at each feeding. I think boys do eat more than girls...or at least in our case.

One Week Old, Little Man!!

Yesterday, Jackson turned one week old! I cannot believe how quickly and how much life can change in a single week. Yet it feels right to have our sweet princess, Emma Kate & our little prince, Jackson Reid.
One week in, we are getting some sleep in 2-3 hour spans at night. Last night was the best one yet. We fed him at 8:45pm and Brett & I got smart and went to bed at 9:45pm, then fed him at midnight, 3am, and 7:50am this morning. He'll usually eat and go back to sleep within an hour at night. Lots of sleeping, eating, and diaper changes. Emma Kate is doing great with her baby brother. She's interested in him and gives him love & pats him (sometimes a bit too hard). Then, she goes about her business. There have been some "fussy" times when one person is holding Jackson and she wants to be held too. I expect that to be a normal occurance when you have 2 babies.
Brett was off work all last week & it was fabulous to have him here. We each had a baby at all times so nobody was left out. :) I got very anxious & emotional thinking about him going back to work. All my thoughts of "how in the world can I do this on my own?" came into my mind. Luckily, I have the best mom ever and she was here bright and early Monday morning to take charge of Emma Kate and let me sleep while Jackson was sleeping. Then, Brett's mom is coming to visit and help out Thursday and Friday. I honestly don't know how people do it without any help...I'm beyond thankful for my Mom!

Happy Birthday Jackson!

He's arrived!!! Monday, March 15th at 1:37pm Jackson Reid came into our lives! He weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces and is 19 1/4 inches long.
A little summary on how the day went: We arrived at Plano Presby at 8am to start the induction. I came in dilated at 3-4cm with lots of swelling in my feet, legs, and hands. We had the most wonderful & attentive labor and delivery nurse, Michelle. She kept a close eye on my blood pressure that was a bit elevated and took such great care of me. Thank goodness for excellent nurses! The morning went by quickly: got my epidural, Dr. Farrow broke my water, & I was fully dilated by 12:15pm. I started pushing at 1:15pm and 22 minutes later our perfect baby boy was here! Whoohoo!!

He had great pink color, very long eyelashes, very blue eyes (that I'm hoping stay that color like his Daddy's eyes). We think in some ways his facial features look like Emma Kate's, but their head shapes are different. Who knows if they'll favor each other or not. So far, he's been a hungry boy and doing lots of snoozing in the hospital. We're praying that continues once we go home. Here are some pics of Jackson on the day he was born.
