A New Challenge

Please say a prayer for me (us)....we are on day 2 of "Operation Teach Jackson How to Sleep Unswaddled." Baby J is so strong now and has crazy moving arms & legs that Brett actually started DOUBLE swaddling him. Basically the Miracle blanket for arms & another swaddle for legs...he was sleeping like 11 hours at night...wonderful!! But after about a week of this it's kind of a pain to double swaddle your baby every time their going to nap/sleep and it's not always full-proof. So yesterday Brett & I had a "parent meeting" to develop our sleep strategy for Jackson. Teaching him how to sleep "free" is the ultimate goal so that's what we're doing! Yesterday we got a 20 minute afternoon nap out of him. Last night went pretty well. Fall asleep at 7:30ish until 11:45 (then a little to eat & back to sleep) until 3:45am (little to eat & back to sleep) until almost 7am. Now he's on he's second nap of the day over an hour.  I just REALLY hope he learns to sleep free quickly and can go back to all night long!!! Say a prayer!! This is hard to tackle while you have a almost 16 month old as well.  :)

  1. I can ONLY imagine .. I will say a prayer.. I feel your pain and anxiety, as this was my fear w/ mia in the miracle blanket.. have you tried miracle blanket but legs free (just arms/body wrapped).. nevermind, you've already made it this far, so don't turn back..

  2. haha Ashley! Yes, you're doing great.... hang in there, he'll get it! We had to let Carter "cry it out" when he was about 4 months old to get used to sleeping unswaddled. Hardest thing I ever had to do, but saw major improvement in just a few days. Each day will get better!

  3. Mere - John Michael LOVED being swaddled as well...what helped us was moving to a Halo "sleep Sack" (and he still sleeps in it now). Hope it helps!!
